Professional Development Facilitator
Position Overview
Riverside Learning is seeking experienced educators, school leaders, instructional coaches, curriculum specialists, and educational professionals to join our team as Professional Development Facilitators. Facilitators play an important role in delivering engaging, practical, and meaningful professional learning experiences for educators and school leaders.
This role is ideal for professionals who have deep educational expertise and a passion for working with adult learners. Riverside Learning Facilitators lead workshops, presentations, professional learning sessions, and other educator experiences that connect research and educational best practices to the realities of classrooms and schools.
We are looking for presenters who can do more than deliver information. Our facilitators create learning environments where educators are encouraged to participate, collaborate, reflect, ask questions, share experiences, and leave with ideas they can put into practice.
Responsibilities
Professional Development Facilitators may be responsible for:
Facilitating virtual and/or in-person professional development workshops and learning sessions.
Delivering engaging presentations and interactive learning experiences for educators and school leaders.
Creating an environment that encourages participation, collaboration, discussion, and professional reflection.
Facilitating activities, conversations, demonstrations, and opportunities for participants to apply new learning.
Connecting educational research, theory, and best practices to practical classroom and school-based applications.
Adapting facilitation strategies to the needs, experience, and interests of participants.
Preparing for sessions by reviewing Riverside Learning materials, objectives, agendas, and expectations.
Collaborating with Riverside Learning staff and content developers to ensure a high-quality participant experience.
Providing feedback regarding participant needs and opportunities to strengthen future professional learning.
Representing Riverside Learning in a professional, enthusiastic, collaborative, and engaging manner.
Maintaining a strong commitment to inclusive, accessible, and meaningful professional learning for all educators.
Required Qualifications
Successful candidates must have:
A master's degree or higher in education, educational leadership, a relevant content area, or a related field.
A current Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Professional License in an appropriate area.
Professional experience in education, such as teaching, school leadership, administration, instructional coaching, curriculum development, or another related area.
Demonstrated expertise in one or more educational content areas or areas of professional practice.
Experience presenting or facilitating professional learning for educators.
A strong understanding of adult learning, engagement, and effective pedagogy.
Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
The ability to translate educational concepts, research, and best practices into practical learning experiences.
The ability to facilitate meaningful professional discussion and respond effectively to participant questions and perspectives.
Strong organizational and preparation skills.
A commitment to creating professional learning experiences that are relevant, respectful, engaging, and useful to educators.
The ability to work independently while meeting established project expectations and timelines.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for educators who are passionate about educators.
Great Riverside Learning Facilitators bring expertise to the room—but they also bring energy, curiosity, authenticity, and a genuine desire to help others grow. They know how to read a room, invite participation, facilitate meaningful conversation, and make professional learning feel relevant rather than routine.
We are especially interested in professionals who have something valuable to share and can turn that expertise into an experience educators will remember and use. Whether your expertise is in literacy, mathematics, special education, educational leadership, early childhood, multilingual learners, instructional practice, assessment, technology, equity and access, or another area of education, we want to hear what you know and how you can help other educators learn.
Project-Based Opportunity
Riverside Learning Professional Development Facilitators serve as Project-Based Associates. Work is offered on an individual project or contract basis based on Riverside Learning's current needs, available professional learning opportunities, and alignment with a facilitator's expertise.
Selection as a Riverside Learning Professional Development Facilitator does not guarantee workshops, presentations, assignments, hours, compensation, or ongoing work. Each project will have its own expectations, scope, timeline, and compensation, which will be communicated and agreed upon before work begins.
