Riverside Learning is seeking experienced educators, school leaders, instructional coaches, curriculum specialists, and educational professionals to join our team as Course Evaluators. Course Evaluators play an important role in supporting the quality of Riverside Learning's professional learning and graduate-level courses by reviewing participant work, providing meaningful feedback, and evaluating learning based on established course expectations.
This role is ideal for professionals who have strong educational expertise, excellent written communication skills, and an understanding of how adults learn. Course Evaluators do not serve as the primary instructor or facilitator for a course. Instead, they provide thoughtful, timely, and constructive feedback that helps participants deepen their learning and connect course concepts to their professional practice.
We are looking for evaluators who view assessment as an opportunity to support learning—not simply assign a grade.
Course Evaluators may be responsible for:
Reviewing participant assignments, projects, reflections, and other course submissions.
Evaluating participant work using established rubrics, criteria, and course expectations.
Providing clear, constructive, and meaningful written feedback.
Assigning grades based on established evaluation criteria.
Helping participants understand their strengths and identify opportunities for continued growth.
Applying grading and evaluation criteria consistently across course participants.
Reviewing work in a timely manner according to established project expectations.
Communicating with Riverside Learning course instructors or staff regarding questions, concerns, or patterns observed in participant work.
Maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professionalism when working with participant information.
Supporting the overall quality and integrity of Riverside Learning's professional learning and graduate-level course experiences.
Providing feedback to Riverside Learning regarding course assignments, rubrics, or assessment processes when appropriate.
Successful candidates must have:
A master's degree or higher in education, educational leadership, a relevant content area, or a related field.
A current Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Professional License in an appropriate area.
Professional experience in education, instructional leadership, curriculum development, or a related field.
Demonstrated expertise in one or more educational content areas or areas of professional practice.
A strong understanding of adult learning, engagement, and effective pedagogy.
Experience reviewing, assessing, or providing feedback on educational work.
Strong written communication and editing skills.
The ability to provide feedback that is specific, constructive, professional, and encouraging.
Familiarity with rubrics, assessment criteria, and standards-based evaluation.
Strong attention to detail and consistency when reviewing participant work.
The ability to manage multiple assignments and meet established evaluation timelines.
The ability to work independently while communicating effectively with Riverside Learning staff and course instructors.
We are looking for professionals who understand that good feedback can be one of the most powerful parts of learning.
A strong Riverside Learning Course Evaluator brings subject-area expertise and sound professional judgment, but also understands how to communicate feedback in a way that encourages reflection and growth. Our evaluators should be able to recognize quality work, identify areas for improvement, and provide feedback that helps educators make meaningful connections between course learning and their professional practice.
We value evaluators who are fair, thoughtful, responsive, detail-oriented, and encouraging. Whether your expertise is in literacy, mathematics, special education, educational leadership, early childhood, multilingual learners, instructional practice, assessment, or another area of education, we are interested in professionals who can bring that expertise to the evaluation process.
Riverside Learning Course Evaluators serve as Project-Based Associates. Work is offered on an individual project or contract basis based on Riverside Learning's current course offerings, participant enrollment, evaluation needs, and alignment with an evaluator's expertise.
Selection as a Riverside Learning Course Evaluator does not guarantee courses, assignments, hours, compensation, or ongoing work. Each project will have its own expectations, scope, timeline, and compensation, which will be communicated and agreed upon before work begins.
