Kim Zajac is an educational consultant with Riverside Learning and a nationally recognized leader in inclusive, innovative educational practices. With a foundation as a Speech and Language Pathologist in Norton Public Schools since 2013, Kim brings deep, practitioner-based insight into how to design learning environments that truly work for all students.
Kim’s work sits at the intersection of accessibility, technology, and human-centered design. She specializes in translating complex frameworks—such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and accessibility standards like WCAG—into practical, actionable strategies that remove barriers and elevate learner outcomes. Her expertise spans inclusive instructional design, AI literacy for educators (including integrated use of Gemini), augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), visual supports, and game-design-based learning for neurodiverse students. She is also passionate about cultivating creativity in the classroom, helping educators make student thinking visible through innovative pedagogical approaches.
A sought-after thought partner and speaker, Kim has contributed to podcasts and publications on topics including accessibility, inclusion, communication, student agency, educational technology, and the ethical integration of AI in teaching and service delivery. She is also an author, contributing author, and illustrator across a range of educational books and blogs.
Kim’s leadership and impact have been recognized nationally. She was a finalist in the Digital Promise VITAL Prize Challenge, serving as an educator mentor and subject matter expert in collaboration with Digital Promise, the National Science Foundation, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She is a recipient of the Classroom Innovator Award from the ASU+GSV Summit and serves as a community leader within ISTE & ASCD, including leadership of the SEES (Special Education & Education Specialists) community. Kim has also been featured as an Inclusion Leader speaker at FETC and is an Adobe Creative Innovator Leader. She is an active member of the LeverageED Foundation collective.
At Riverside Learning, Kim partners with schools and districts to build capacity in inclusive practices, deepen learning experiences, and strategically integrate technology to improve outcomes for all learners.
Outside of her professional work, Kim’s family is the center of her world. She is an avid traveler who finds joy in exploring art museums, discovering new cuisines, and collecting passport stamps. Closer to home, she recharges outdoors—often biking along the scenic Shining Sea Bikeway on Cape Cod, always in search of the next great view.
